Septic Pumping

SEPTIC PUMPING

PUMPING

Septic pumping, or septic cleaning, is the solution to many problems with a septic system. The terms can be used interchangeably but for the purposes of clarity, we will refer to septic pumping as the emergency cleanout, and the septic cleaning page will discuss routine maintenance pumping and procedures.

In the case of a septic clog or other malfunction, a septic pumping job might be necessary to clear your septic tank system of a detrimental blockage. A routine septic cleaning should be done every three to five years, but in cases of septic clogs or a clogged drain field, a septic pump job may be necessary in the interim to get your septic system back to working order.

AVOID THE NEED FOR EMERGENCY SEPTIC PUMPING

Bear Country Septic Services takes pride in providing our service area of rural Colorado communities with guidelines to properly care for your septic tank system to avoid the need for emergency septic repair and the unforeseen need for septic pumping. Some precautions can be taken to avoid the need for emergency septic repair, such as:

  • Don’t treat your toilet or drains as a garbage can. Be mindful of what you flush or wash down your drains. In addition to solid matter such as baby wipes, feminine sanitary products, paper towels and toilet paper that is not septic-system-approved, be aware that flushing or draining harsh chemicals or cleaners may poison your system and destroy beneficial bacteria that help maintain a healthy balance in your septic system.
  • Don’t use septic tank additives without first consulting a professional. These can often become problematic and contribute to septic tank problems rather than help. (See below regarding our digestants.)
  • Avoid using a garbage disposal. It is extremely important to be sure your septic system can accommodate the additional waste.
